Breaking: The CW Planning 'Melrose Place' Reboot

Andrew Shue, call your agent.

A spokesperson for The CW confirms what has been buzzed about for months: The network is developing an update of Melrose Place. Details remain sketchy, but it’s believed Melrose 2.0 would launch next fall.

The move comes as The CW has enjoyed some measure of success with its 90210 reboot. Despite modest ratings, the show has brought attention to the struggling network at a time when it sorely needs it. The suits no doubt figure a Melrose rebirth will generate another round of mass hysteria. (And they’d be right!)

Earlier this month, Darren Star, who created both Melrose and 90210, admitted to that a Melrose resurrection "would be a fun thing to do. I wouldn’t be
surprised if it happened — if it can be put together in the right way."

What do you think? Good idea? Bad idea? Horrendous idea? Sound off below! In the meantime, keep checking back for more details.

Nooooo …. NOOOOOOOOOO … just please NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! The can’t and they shouldn’t do that. Come on, MP was crazy for the 90s. You can’t do this now on a channel for teens – specially with a happy network chief, when GG and OTH is holding the you females.
MP is just not a CW show at all. But okay … maybe the developing an updated version of this bad season one. That would explain a lot.
But just please, “90210” is worst, we don’t need another major crap out there.

Everything that’s old is new again…
Maybe they can reboot One Tree Hill! I know the show is still on the air, but they need something. Maybe even a Superman reboot!

  • what

    never my show, but why?

Did they learn nothing from “90210”? And now they pulling this crap? They should better be talking to the cast of “One Tree Hill” to do another year, before they get drunk and pulling stupid ideas like that one. Hopefully it will be stayed developed forever!!!

Just when I thought they couldn’t sink any lower…

What’s next? 7th Heaven? Really, I should already planing to leave this planet. It only gets worst. Keep OTH, but stop stupid ideas like this and work on 90210 – that’s already messy enough.

Very, very, very bad idea !
We want fresh shows ! Not bad remakes !
What about a new Dawson’s Creek ? A new Ally McBeal ? A new Party of Five ? What about redo all the 90s ???!!!
    No way !

All I could do is laugh….it’s too funny.

i would just ab do anything to see heather locklear on telly again, but what’s with all this remaking .. don’t they have enough new ideas?! Although 90ies were my teenage days, so it’s nice to see the characters back on 90210–it makes me nostalgic. I wouldn’t mind seeing a remake of Melrose Place, but I don’t think it will give them what they’re looking for, coz seriously, apart from the old cast, 90210 is pretty lame (altho Lori Laughlin and Bob Estes are ALWAYZ hot!)

Well, since Marcia Cross’s face hasn’t changed one botoxed bit, she could very easily pick back up where Kimberly left off (more bombs pleeeease!!!)

  • Alan of Montreal

That’s it! There are no more original ideas left in Hollywood!
By the way, why isn’t Daphne Zuniga in the photo?

  • Laura

    Horrendous. Stop, CW. Just… stop.

  • matthew c

well i am a MEGA FAN of “MP” and my only hope would be that the CW learns from the mistakes they’ve made with “90210” and uses this updated version of “MP” to focus only on the original characters and where they are now in life. Add a few new characters to the mix, but focus mostly on characters from the first series. also, GET HEATHER LOCKLEAR ON BOARD!
